FAMILY RECIPES MADE WITH LOVE.
24 years ago we started our business which was born out of a love of cooking with our mammy in the family B&B, Shelmalier House here in Athlone. After leaving home and both getting our diplomas in Hotel and Catering management, we came back to Athlone to start our own Catering company.
We started with catering doing mainly christenings communions and confirmations as word spread quickly about what we were offering & the level of personal service we gave we realised there was a real opportunity for us to open our own cafe!
We did this initially in Baston Street and as our customer base grew we were able to move into a bigger & better premesis and open a deli & bakery on site too. We welcomed all our customers new & old to our Connaught Street premesis in 2007.
We we’re now seating up to 60 people in our cafe and continuing to bake our home made treats & goodies every day too. It was at this time that our home made cakes & high fibre brown bread really took off.
We always continued our outside catering too and moved into the corporate sector working with Alkermes, All Ireland Drama Festival, Utah Medical, Heat Merchants & the HSE.
In 2016 after nearly 10 years of running our restaurant, becoming wives & mothers we decided to close up and go back to where it all began.
We are now back to the B&B and instead of just helping Mammy to cook we’re helping to run it!. We still make delicious cakes, tarts & bread from the kitchen there and you can buy these in Dooleys Westend & Behans Fruit and Veg right here in town as we deliver fresh daily.
We are passionate about catering and as you can see, after being in the business so many years we really understand exactly what people need for their special events be it family or corporate.
